Zoomer Magazine

“She is the only Canadian editor who is her own brand,” said Moses Znaimer, Founder and CEO of ZoomerMedia Ltd., when he announced Suzanne Boyd’s appointment as the founding Editor-In-Chief of Zoomer Magazine in 2008. With a veteran editorial team assembled from some of the country’s best-selling print brands and an a-list of contributors, Ms. Boyd and the team achieved a very successful launch. Zoomer has quickly resonated with its relevant blend of policy and lifestyle content. Ms. Boyd’s positioning of Zoomer — “as much a movement as a magazine” — has lead it to quickly achieve cultural significance, being dubbed the Baby Boomer Bible by the industry authority MastheadOnline. Its success has lead to a reach of 1.5 million readers a month.

Ms. Boyd also serves as the editor-in-chief of everythingzoomer.com, and as such, works closely with ZoomerMedia’s digital arm to oversee it’s design, content and social media outreach. A keen consumer of media with an ability to discern and extrapolate key market trends into strategy, Ms. Boyd is also on the Executive Management Team of ZoomerMedia Ltd.

Prior to her role at Zoomer, Ms. Boyd was named Editor-in-Chief of Suede magazine, the acclaimed fashion-forward, culture source launched by Time Inc., in partnership with Essence Communications Partners.

As the first person of colour to helm a mainstream Canadian publication, Suzanne is renowned for her pivotal role as Editor-In-Chief of the Rogers Media fashion title Flare magazine (1996-2004). During her tenure, Flare remained Canada’s best-selling fashion magazine, foreign or domestic, with up to two million readers a month. Ms. Boyd also served on the Editorial Council of the Women’s Group of Rogers Media and was a founding board member of the Fashion Design Council of Canada (FDCC).

As one of Canada’s original influencers, Suzanne is regularly invited to provide commentary on lifestyle trends on such programs as: ET Canada, eTalk, CBC, CTV and Global TV news. Named to Toronto Life’s Best Dressed Hall of Fame, Hello! Magazine’s 50 Best Dressed Canadians, The Toronto Star’s Annual Best Dressed of The Year list, Best Dressed Torontonian in Jeanne Beker’s PostCity Awards; Suzanne was most recently honoured in Toronto Life’s 50th Anniversary issue – as one of Canada’s most influential fashion pioneers.

Ms. Boyd’s essays and personal journalism have appeared in Maclean’s, The Toronto Star, Canadian House and Home, O The Oprah Magazine, O at Home and Vogue.
